Here’s What’s Happening in Room 103!
The teachers have recently had to check to see that we are aligned with the State Standards or Common Core. We did a pretty good job of leaving no gaps in your child’s education! As part of those Standards, there are “I can” statements for the students that lets them know that they have achieved a particular goal. These are some of the “I can” statements that I will be or continue working on during the next month or so. I am aware that the children will be at different levels of understanding and I will work with all children to achieve success. You can check your child’s understanding or use these concepts at home too.
RELIGION:
I can show reverence while in Church.
I can pray recite the following prayers: The Sign of the Cross, Angel of God, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Prayer Before Meals, Act of Contrition, Our Father.
MATH:
I can recall addition and subtraction facts quickly.
I can build fact families. (Helpful in learning facts!)
I can use <, >, and = when comparing numbers up to 100.
I can find 10 more or 10 less than a given two digit number.
I can recognize number patterns and apply the pattern to predict what comes next.
I can identify coins and their value.
READING:
I can ask and answer who, what, when, where, why and how questions about key details in a story.
I can describe how characters respond to major events or challenges in a story.
I can connect words I hear or read to the real world.
I can select “just-right” text for myself.
I can read aloud with expression and fluency.
I can decode words that follow spelling patterns.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
I can spell words that follow a spelling pattern.
I can check and correct my spelling using classroom tools.
I can revise and edit my writing to make it stronger.
I can cooperate in group discussions.
I can follow oral directions with multiple steps.
I can write 7/8 words sentences correctly.
